Nonprofit credit counseling organization expands service to Spanish-speaking consumers in debt

New program set to help debt-distressed as Hispanic Heritage Month kicks off

(Orlando, FL) — In concert with the nation’s Hispanic Heritage Month, InCharge^® Debt Solutions (IDS) has expanded its free credit counseling services to Spanish-speaking consumers with debt problems. IDS has increased its staff of Certified Credit Counselors who are native speakers of Spanish by 32% in the last six months, to assist those in the community, whether they are English- or Spanish-speaking, with assistance finding the right debt solution.

Being located in Central Florida where 21% of the population is of Hispanic descent (compared to 15.4% for the United States as a whole, according to the U.S. Census Bureau) and 16.4% speak Spanish at home (an increase of 4.5% from 1990-2000 according to CensusScope.org), IDS is especially aware of the need to serve this community. At the same time, its location gives the nonprofit organization a tremendous opportunity to find Spanish-speaking and bilingual (Spanish-English) speakers to train to become Certified Credit Counselors.
